Selkirk OMNI MOI Tuning System Explained (2026) | SmashPoint Hong Kong

Inside the Selkirk OMNI: How the Adjustable MOI Tuning System Works

The Selkirk OMNI is not just another all-court paddle. It is one of the first paddles you can rebalance by hand — no lead tape, no glue, no permanent change.

That feature is the Adjustable MOI Tuning System. Combined with Selkirk’s ReactCore and InfiniGrit surface, it is why OMNI is showing up in so many “one paddle for every match” conversations in 2026.

SmashPoint stocks the OMNI at HK$2,386. Shop it here: Selkirk OMNI pickleball paddle. Pickup is free at 212HK in Wong Chuk Hang.

What MOI actually means

MOI is moment of inertia. On a paddle it shows up as two things you can feel:

  • Swing weight — how heavy the paddle feels when you swing it
  • Twist weight — how stable it stays when you miss the centre of the face

Higher swing weight usually means more plow-through on drives and overheads. Lower swing weight usually means faster hands at the kitchen. Higher twist weight means off-centre blocks and resets stay more honest.

Most players used to chase that with lead tape. OMNI puts removable weights around the perimeter instead. Out of the box it arrives in Selkirk’s factory setup, already tuned for a large sweet spot and stable balance. You only move the weights if you want a different feel.

How you customise it

The perimeter weights come off and go back on by hand. No tools.

  • Want more power and plow-through? Keep or add weight higher on the face.
  • Want faster hands at the kitchen? Take weight off or shift it so the paddle feels lighter through the swing.
  • Want more stability on mishits? Keep weight toward the edges to protect twist weight.

The next-generation weights are designed to stay put. They should not rattle or slide mid-rally the way loose aftermarket tape sometimes does.

Start with the stock setup for a week. Change one thing at a time. If you move every weight on day one, you will not know what actually helped.

ReactCore plus adjustable MOI

The tuning system sits on top of Selkirk’s ReactCore build:

  • A PureFoam floating centre
  • A PureFoam ring
  • An EVA Power Ring around that

That double-ring layout is meant to give you dwell time on soft shots, a connected feel on drives, and a usable sweet spot across the face. The surface is tournament-legal InfiniGrit, built for spin that lasts longer than a typical raw-carbon peel.

Together, the core and the weights let you bias the same paddle toward power, control, stability or hand speed — instead of buying a second paddle when your game changes.

Widebody or elongated?

Widebody Elongated
Face Wider, more forgiving sweet spot Longer, more reach
Best for Doubles, blocks, off-centre contact Serves, drives, singles, finishing balls
Feel Stable and confident More leverage and plow-through

Most Hong Kong doubles players should try the Widebody first. Choose Elongated if you already want extra reach and you finish a lot of points from the baseline.

Is OMNI right for you?

Buy OMNI if you like tinkering, or if you want one paddle that can cover social nights and more competitive play. Skip the customisation at first if you just want a strong all-court paddle — the stock weighting is the point of the factory tune.

If you never want to touch the weights, OMNI still plays as a modern all-court paddle. The system is there when you are ready.

FAQ

Do I have to move the OMNI weights?

No. Play it stock first. Move weights only if you want a different swing or a more stable mishit.

Is this the same as lead tape?

Same idea — changing swing weight and twist weight — without tape, residue or a permanent setup.

Can I pick up an OMNI at 212HK?

Yes. Collection from SmashPoint at 212HK is free, with no minimum spend.
